eGovernments Foundation in partnership with the Urban Dev Dept, Karnataka has developed this website and 6 other Municipal eGovernance applications for Bhadravathi City and 56 other Karnataka cities. eGov's mission is to bring better governance and smoother delivery of services to the citizens in Indian cities.

Bhadravathi is one of 57 Karnataka cities in the Nirmala Nagara - Municipal eGovernance project. On Aug 15th 2005 each of the 57 cities will get a comprehensive website as well as the Public Grievance & Redressal module. Other important modules to be launched by June 2006 are Property Tax, Financial Accounting  GIS Mapping, Birth & Death Certification, and Ward Works. Nirmala Nagara project is a partnership between the Urban Development Dept, eGovernments Foundation & Survey of India. These computer based systems coupled with Govt. process re-engineering and GIS digital mapping will provide transparency and accountability and smoother delivery of services to citizens of Karnataka. Bhadravathi city is located on the banks of river Bhadra. It is one the important cities in Shimoga district. The city is the centre of two major industries namely the Vishweshwaraya Iron And Steel (VISL) Factory and Mysore Paper Mills Ltd. (MPM).

BHADRA DAM
BHADRA RIVER : The Bhadra originates in the Western Ghats range, and flows east across the Deccan Plateau, joined by its tributaries the Somavahini, Thadabehalla, and Odirayanahalla. The river flows through the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. A dam was built across the river near Lakkavalli. The Bhadra meets the Tunga River at Koodli, a small town near Shivamogga. The combined river continues east as the Tungabhadra, a major tributary of the Krishna, which empties into the Bay of Bengal.


City Budget: The annual budget of the CMC for the year 2007-08 is Rs.1573.99  lakhs . Out of which Rs.237 lakhs is towards Repairs and Maintenance, Rs. 721 lakhs towards New works and Rs. 60.56 lakhs towards the welfare of SC/ST . Click here for City Finances
